چکیده

Background: Invasive candidiasis occurs in immunocompromised individuals as an opportunistic infection patients with lung cancer. Although culture and histopathology remain the standard diagnosis of fungal infections, other tests are still needed to provide faster results. Human 1,3-β-D-Glucan (BDG) uses ELISA detect candidiasis. β D-Glucan level from BAL fluid is positive when cut-off p 130 pg / mL. This study aims determine differences levels 1,3β-D-Glucan Bronchoalveolar Lavage (BAL) between immunocompetent groups suspected cancer at RSU Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang.Method: A cross-sectional was conducted on 33 who had risk factors for invasive Hospital Malang.Result: significant (p = 0.009). In different tests, there a slight difference but it not statistically based age sex 0.632, 0.338, 0.472, 0.667).Conclusion: Patients have higher BDG due immunoparalysis. There were groups.

Bronchoalveolar Lavage Proteomics in Patients with Suspected Lung Cancer

Lung cancer configures as one of the deadliest types of cancer. The future implementation of early screening methods such as exhaled breath condensate analysis and low dose computed tomography (CT) as an alternative to current chest imaging based screening will lead to an increased burden on bronchoscopy units. New approaches for improvement of diagnosis in bronchoscopy units, regarding patient...

Complement factor H is elevated in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and sputum from patients with lung cancer.

BACKGROUND Cytologic examination of specimens obtained from the respiratory tract is a lung cancer diagnostic procedure with high specificity but moderate sensitivity. The use of molecular biomarkers may enhance the sensitivity of cytologic examination in the detection of lung cancer. METHODS Complement factor H, a protein secreted by lung cancer cells, was quantified in a series of bronchoal...

Comparison of bronchoalveolar lavage and mini-bronchoalveolar lavage in the diagnosis of pneumonia in immunocompromised patients.

BACKGROUND Pneumonia is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) is commonly used to help diagnose and characterize pneumonia in these patients. Mini-BAL is a less-invasive, less-costly and less-cumbersome diagnostic tool than BAL. OBJECTIVES In this study, we compared the diagnostic value of BAL and mini-BAL in the evaluation of pne...

Molecular detection of tumor cells in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid from patients with early stage lung cancer.

BACKGROUND Conventional cytologic analysis of sputum is an insensitive test for the diagnosis of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We have recently demonstrated that polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based molecular methods are more sensitive than cytologic analysis in diagnosing bladder cancer. In this study, we examined whether molecular assays could identify cancer cells in bronchoalveolar l...
